Ok here is a first attempt. no knowledge but a book in front of me. so I was proud of it. Anyway I started with a watered down codex grey for a base layer. The next layer was a badab black wash over the darker parts and the parts that would not reflect much light. I then used the original codex grey to re highlight the armour areas. I then used a 2:1 codex grey and skull white mix to highlight further.

After bringing the highlights up I added more white to make it a 2:1 skull white to codex grey. I added some extreme highlights and edge highlighting to the model. after this I added small dots around the armour where the light reflected it. this stage really pulled the model together,

the next thing I did was a straight blend from khorne red to blazing orange with khorne red added to skull white to highlight about 1:1. Next stage has adding a small white highlight. sorry it wasn't to detailed im tired and should not really be writing this right now :)

Hello this next post is on the crystal blend on my planned overlord conversion. anyway I only had the colours in front of me to do this with so not to many greens. not a big fan myself. so the first layer was a watered down 1:1 mix of sotek green and waaaagh flesh. for the next few layers all I did was add waaaagh flesh to the mix leaving space between each layer so a small amount of the previous layer is showing. as demonstrated in the images I went darker in the mapped out spots.

The next step when I hit about pure waaaagh flesh I added black until a couple of shades lighter than black as crystal does not reflect pure black but reflects pure white. once I hit that layer with brush thin lines I went ahead and re mixed a 1:1 sotek green and waaaagh flesh I added sotek green to the mix doing the same and leaving gaps in each layer. Once I got to pure sotek green I added white until I was happy with the light. To finish I highlighted the edges white to make it stand out.
